Artist and tattoo master Dmytro Yavtushenko is convinced that a tattoo is a work of art, it must be individual and exclusive. The master prefers to paint "pictures" on bodies and believes that a small drawing is no longer relevant — one should decorate the body with large and bright works. Quality tattooing should be accessible to everyone, Dmytro believes, and offers works for any taste and budget.
Artistic tattoo master Dmytro Yavtushenko, together with the client, comes up with an exclusive sketch of the future tattoo, then applies it to the client's body in a special program, so that the future owner of the body drawing can see exactly how this tattoo will look from the side.
"Only with us can you get an exclusive sketch of the drawing, because tattooing is very individual. Even if we are brought a ready-made drawing, we refine it to the client's wishes and provide individual development. Then in Photoshop I apply this sketch to a photograph of the body part where we plan to place the tattoo. This is necessary so that the client can see how this or that drawing will look on a relief body. And only after that we begin the actual procedure of applying the tattoo to the body," says Dmytro Yavtushenko. "Of course, the client's wishes play a primary role — whatever they come up with, that is what we will do. Sometimes a person comes for a black-and-white tattoo, and in the process wants to add color — and the result is a bright, 'playful' drawing."
When the master develops a project, he immediately makes two to four sketches on the theme set by the client. For example, recently a person came to Dmytro who wanted to draw a medieval Cossack chaika (boat) on their body. And the master sat down for several days to study history, gathered complete information about when and how these boats were built, how many oars and masts they had. And only after that the design of the sketch begins — he drew several variants of the boat and the background. The cost of such services is accessible to everyone — after all, the sketch and visual demonstration on a photo costs from 100 hryvnias. But the client can immediately imagine exactly how they will look in the new image.
Together with the client, the master develops the direction, style, size, color scheme and other details. If the client came with some symbolic drawing (for example, the Mayan calendar), the master explains its meaning and what energy such an image carries (usually people reconsider getting such symbols and lean towards the sketch proposed by Dmytro). Only after such detailed elaboration does the artist begin the actual work on the body.
During tattooing, an individual set of sterile instruments is used. After the procedure, it is immediately disposed of, and when the client comes for a correction after some time, the master uses a new set. The choice of ink shades is impressive — when you want a tattoo in gray tones and do not suspect how many shades of gray can be applied in one drawing, and moreover the artist himself uses various techniques of application and retouching. Dmytro is a master of "volumetric" tattooing — in his hands, any drawing "comes to life," whether it is roses and peonies beloved by girls or a tiger or lion preferred by men.
"I work in all directions, I am interested in mastering new styles and techniques. I prefer works in Japanese style, Polynesian, Old School (traditional tattoo, old/new school), we also work with Freehand (work is done without a preparatory sketch — we discuss the style, and trusting, knowing the master's professionalism, we get an excellent result). Of course, realism remains loved by me and by clients," Dmytro shares.
Some works the master advises to approach very thoughtfully. This especially applies to small tattoos. Experience has taught Dmytro that even the simplest drawings are better done at the size of a palm, and drawings with detail "ask" for even more space on the body.
"From a distance of five meters, a small tattoo looks like a bruise, so I recommend doing drawings at least 15 by 20 centimeters. If you have already decided on a tattoo, it should be noticeable and beautiful," Yavtushenko believes. "And all the details should be clearly visible from a short distance, so that there is no desire to examine them with a magnifying glass."
Another "trick" of the master — he is convinced that a good and quality tattoo should be accessible to everyone. The days are gone when there were only two or three tattoo salons in the city with astronomical prices, and not very wealthy people went to masters who work "at home." Now safe, quality and inexpensive artistic tattooing can be applied to the body in the best workshops of the city. The first consultation at the studio is free. You just need to come to the master at the salon and simply tell about your vision of the drawing — the quoted price will pleasantly surprise you.
Moreover, Dmytro does not charge money per square centimeter of the drawing — he sees and evaluates the whole work as a whole. He also prefers to work quickly and precisely — so he applies an "A4 format" drawing in 3–3.5 hours, but sometimes there are many details to draw out, and then you need to be ready for several sessions, as the work will take 6–7 hours. And, of course, the master performs all work with anesthesia, so the process of applying the drawing to the body is painless!
